Gianluca Iumiento is an Italian theater and film director, actor, and acting coach. He is Associate Professor in Acting. After studying Philosophy at the University of Pisa, he graduated from the Italian National Film School, Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, under the supervision of Academy Award Nominated Actor Giancarlo Giannini.
From January 2012 to January 2019, he acted as Head of Acting at the National Academy of the Arts of Oslo, teaching acting and directing classes.
Iumiento has worked since 2000 as an actor and a director in several ensemble theaters, festivals, film, and TV, while creating and curating two acting festivals: the Metodi Festival in Italy and the Oslo International Acting Festival in Norway.
Among the most important theaters where he worked are Il Piccolo Teatro in Milan, Il Teatro dei Filodrammatici in Milan, Det Norske Teatret in Oslo, Kilden Teatret in Kristiansand, Trøndelag Teater in Trondheim, Polski Teatr in Wroclaw, The War Theater in Sarajevo, Drammatikenshus in Oslo, and Teatro del Loto in Italy.
He was part of the jury of the Ibsen Award in Norway and is currently acting as Co-Artistic director at Teatro del Loto in Italy and teaching regular classes at the Italian National Film School in Rome.
His theatrical texts have been staged in Italian, Norwegian, English, and Polish.
He directed the feature film NovemberOslo which was running in the main competition at the New York International Nordic Film Festival.
